Authentic Kriya Yoga Techniques of Sathguru Kriya Babaji
For Health, Inner Peace, and Self-Transformation
The Lineage
Mahavatar Babaji, the Master
Born in year 203 A.D, Sathguru Kriya Babaji Nagaraj, also known as Mahavatar Babaji, has been the living source and fountainhead of the very powerful system of yoga - "Kriya Yoga" - revived by him. Babaji has been guiding his disciples under different lineages so that they spread his teachings throughout the world.
As part of the current lineage, which he founded in 1952 through two disciples, V.T.Neelakantan and Yogi S.A.A.Ramaiah, Babaji has synthesized classical yoga of Patanjali, the tantric practices and teachings of the 18 Tamil Yoga Siddhas to create an integral yoga to transform the aspirant in all five planes of human existence (physical, vital, mental, intellectual and spiritual). This includes a five-fold yogic path of asanas, pranayama, meditation, mantras and bhakti with a comprehensive set of 144 Kriyas, practical yogic techniques taught in three progressive initiations. These include the most potential technique of "Kriya Kundalini Pranayama" in the first initiation and Samadhi Kriyas in the third initiation. They are designed by Babaji specifically for the householders of this modern age.
Yogi S.A.A. Ramaiah, disciple of Babaji
Born into a rich Chettiar family in Chettinad, Tamil Nadu, colonial India in 1923, Yogiar S.A.A. Ramaiah graduated from Madras University with a B.S. major in geology, and a minor in Tamil literature. On the eve of his departure for post-graduate studies in geology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA he contracted bone tuberculosis and endured six years of convalescence suspended in a plaster body cast, as prescribed by English specialists. After being healed by Babaji in 1952 he devoted his life to Babaji’s mission. He was initiated into Kriya Yoga by merciful Babaji himself in his ashram near Satopanth Tal in Badrinath. Babaji taught him the system of 144 kriyas. Yogiar did tapas and completed multiple assignments, including the collection and preservation of more than a thousand palm leaf manuscripts written by the 18 Tamil Siddhas including Agastyar Muni and Boganathar, who were Babaji's Gurus.
Yogiar had spread the teachings of Babaji to different parts of the world. Among several assignments given by Babaji, establishment of a yoga therapy college was also an important milestone after studying physiotherapy and yoga therapy to heal the suffering using yogic techniques. I remember my teacher Marshall Govindan Satchidananda Ji recalling many times the pure love his Guru demonstrated towards people though he was known to be a very strict and ego-crushing typical Spiritual Guru. Yogiar was one of the yogis in the recent times who made a conscious exit.

Marshall Govindan Satchidananda, my Teacher
From 1970 to 1989, after 18 years of an intense Kriya Yoga Sadhana, 8 hours a day on average under the supervision of his Guru, Yogiar S.A.A. Ramaiah (the direct disciple of Babaji), Marshall Govindan Satchidananda Ji attained "Self-Realization". His Spiritual name Govindan, which is the name of attracting avatar of Lord Vishnu, was given to him in 1974 on Mt. Shasta, California by Babaji himself (through Yogiar) announcing that he would attract and initiate many aspirants of Kriya Yoga across the world in future.
As foretold by Yogiar, more than ten years earlier, Babaji asked him to start the Babaji’s Kriya Yoga Order of Acharyas lay order of initiating teachers in 1997 to spread his Kriya movement across the world. Since then, Satchidananda Ji has initiated tens of thousands of seekers into Kriya Yoga. He has completed many projects entrusted to him by Babaji and Yogiar as part of this journey. While his demanding journey with Yogiar is certainly inspiring for seekers, Satchidananda has been very generous in giving access to sacred Kriya Techniques considering the ever-growing challenges of the householders' modern lifestyle as Babaji stated that his Kriya Yoga of this lineage is meant for householders, not renunciates. In 1999, Babaji gave his blessings on the Order and his divine darshan twice to him in Satopanth Tal.

About me
Sreedhar is an Acharya in the "Order of Acharyas" in this lineage and has been initiating the aspirants into Kriya Yoga from year 2026. As a certified teacher in Babaji's Kriya Hatha Yoga, he has been teaching Kriya Hatha Yoga for past 2.5 years. He has been practicing Kriya Yoga for more than a decade. Further, he is mere an instrument in the hands of Sathguru Kriya Babaji Nagaraj, who works through him to teach the aspirants. Together, the Kriya Yoga Pledge and this profound 1952 quote dictated by Babaji—taken from The Voice of Babaji, a Trilogy on Kriya Yoga —lie at the very core of his principles, practice, and journey, driving him forward under the guidance of Satchidananda Ji:

"Mergence in the Master is not becoming nothing
But being a perfect instrument of the Master"
-"The Voice of Babaji, a Trilogy on Kriya Yoga"
